MySQL Users Conference 2006 - Call for Participation

The Call for Participation is now open, and you're invited to submit a proposal to speak at the next MySQL Users Conference, April 24-27, 2006, in Santa Clara, California. The MySQL Users Conference brings over 1,000 open source and database enthusiasts together as a celebration of the huge MySQL ecosystem. The Conference will feature a wide range of tutorials and sessions, including in-depth technical sessions on performance tuning, high availability, as well as PHP/Web and Data warehousing Scale-out.

New Release of MySQL (5.0.13 Release Candidate) is Now Available

This is the first release candidate in the 5.0 series. This release includes support for Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, Information Schema (Data Dictionary), XA and more. Additional updates include:

• Better detection of connection timeout for replication servers on Windows.
• The counters for the Key_read_request, Key_reads, Key_write_requests, and Key_writes status variables were changed from unsigned long to unsigned longlong to accommodate larger variables, without rollover.
• The LEAST() and GREATEST()functions used to return NULL only if all arguments were NULL. Now they return NULL if any argument, the same as Oracle.
• Numerous bug fixes

All efforts are now being focused on fixing bugs and stabilizing MySQL 5.0 for the upcoming production release. Get a head start on your projects by testing the MySQL 5.0 Release Candidate now.
